The San Francisco Giants won 6-3 against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park however, the Giants and Padres fans got engaged in a brawl with each other. The video was uploaded by a renowned San Diego Padres supporter, Mark Barlett on social media.
As per the reports, the Giants fans had initiated the ruckus, but the Padres ended up being victorious in the off-stadium quarrel even if they weren't on the field. The Padres fans dominated the Giants mob and left some of them bloodied.
Barlett reported the incident and was disappointed by the actions of the Giants fans on his X post.
"Giants fans tried to start something with Padres fans at Petco Park, but they clearly picked the wrong fight. Can’t we all just get along at the ballpark?" Barlett wrote.
The Giants had consistent form throughout the game. Things picked up when the rookie Grant McCray hit two home runs and secured five runs in the second inning and then in the ninth inning.
Giants' starting pitcher, Logan Webb's last six innings through the game, involved 10 hits and three runs. As a result, the Padres were left hopeless against the Giants.
The Padres manager reacts to the 6-3 loss against the Giants
The San Diego Padres currently hold the top wild-card spot, just 1 and a half games ahead of the Arizona Diamondbacks. However, the race has become two competitive with New York Mets coming from behind the Atlanta Braves with 9-games winning streak.
Even Braves, at third-spot, are only half game behind the Diamondbacks. So, the Padres need to win the games. The Padres manager, Mike Shildt, has expressed his thoughts about the loss against the Giants postgame.
"We got (Webb) early," Padres manager Mike Shildt said. "Baess loaded, able to scratch a couple and just weren’t able to add on. We got one in the fifth and he made pitches. He’s a veteran guy, so he kept the ball down and we had some good swings at him and just couldn’t add on too much."
However, Shildt is adamant on staying optimistic for the future matches.
"Still evaluate it tonight, but optimistic moving forward,” Shildt added. “Clearly a good sign. Him and Tati were both pretty much in the role they were in tonight. You know, kind of emergency, take an at-bat kind of thing. Both of them had their head around it, good team guys, tough guys."
Dylan Cease tried to give an early lead to his team, however, it did not deem to be sustainable for the Padres, as the Giants had a great offense and defense coordination.
