Framber Valdez, the reigning World Series champion with the Houston Astros, and Yonder Alonso, a former professional player and current MLB Network analyst, took a trip down memory lane in Guayacanes, San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, a place Framber fondly calls "home."

“𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙙. @astros star Framber Valdez took @YonderalonsoU around his hometown roots in the Dominican Republic to show how it shaped him into the person and player he is today. @LasMayores | @LosAstros” - MLB Network, Twitter

Although Framber grew up in the smaller town of Palenque, he moved to Guayacanes when he turned 19 in the search of a better life. While the going was tough, Framber defied all the odds and became the first ballplayer from his town.

Even to this day, Framber credits Guayacanes for making him the ballplayer that he is today:

“Then I come to Guayacanes as a young man. A town that does not have a single ballplayer who signed. Guayacanes received me, and that is why I am here today as a ballplayer."

Like every other Dominican, Framber is a beach lover, and he made sure to take Yonder down to one of his favorites.

When asked what he loved about the beach the most, you'd be surprised to know that it wasn't just fun and games. The beach is in fact one of Framber's favorite workout spots, a place that gave him resistance like no other:

“Well, the beach is where I can go relax, rest, eat some fish. But the beach is also where I work out my legs. For strength, for endurance, for stamina. The beach gives me more resistance than anything in the world."

The pair concluded their trip at a church Framber helped build. The story was quite emotional. Framber promised the pastor that he'd build a church in the community once he becomes a big ballplayer:

“I always do things in my life without receiving anything in return. I do it from my heart! This is the church that we made. And today I’m living it, and I feel good because I kept my promise."

While Framber Valdez continues to do well in his home state of the Dominican Republic, it will be interesting to see how the Houston Astros' head marksman performs on the mound next season. His stats in 2022 were great, but keeping the good form is going to be a challenge.

Framber Valdez in MLB

Framber was signed by the Houston Astros as an international free agent in 2015 and made his MLB debut in 2018.

2022 was truly a breakthrough year for Framber Valdez, winning his first World Series Championship with the Astros. He also became the Astros' Opening Day starter, an MLB All-Star, and an All-MLB First Team selection, each for the first time that year.
