The Seattle Mariners held off a resilient Houston Astros squad to retain their spot atop the American League West. The Mariners won 2-1 in a close battle courtesy of J.P. Crawford's walk-off sac fly in the bottom of the 10th that drove in Jonathan Clase.

It seems that it wasn't only the fans and players of the team who were involved in the walk-off celebration. In a video that the Mariners shared on Instagram, J.P. Crawford's huskies can be seen howling their hearts out after their owner won the game for the team.

The three canines in Crawford's house belted out howls equivalent to that of 10 dogs at least. It was a light and adorable moment at the end of the game.

The win pushed Seattle's record to 31-26, 3.5 games ahead of second-place Texas Rangers in the AL West. Meanwhile, after a slight resurgence, the Houston Astros seem to be cooling off, as they fell to 24-32 with six losses in their last 10 games.

Seattle Mariners' polarizing start to the season

The Seattle Mariners are the leaders in the American League West. The team, however, is night-and-day in certain aspects of play. J.P. Crawford and the batting order of the team has struggled so far.

The team is in the bottom five of the league when it comes to OPS, with .661. Seattle has scored a measly 211 runs, tied for second-last with the Miami Marlins and just ahead of the struggling Chicago White Sox. The batting lineup is being hard-carried by star Julio Rodriguez, who is averaging .269 this year.

In contrast, Seattle has been brilliant on the mound so far. The pitching core and the bullpen boast a top-10 ranking league-wide in terms of ERA with 3.57. The squad has also allowed the fourth-lowest average issued to opposition hitters with a .218 average. It's a total team effort for the pitching crew, as the starters average around a 3.00 ERA while the bullpen does the finishing blow with a 3.65 ERA.

With the postseason still far away, it will be interesting to see which moves the Seattle front office will partake in as the team prepares for a deep postseason run this year.
