It was a perfect debut for Jazz Chisholm Jr. in pinstripes. The New York Yankees won Sunday’s series finale 8-2 against the rivals Boston Red Sox, winning the series and bringing the season record to 62-45. They are only a game behind the Baltimore Orioles (62-43) in the AL East pennant race.

Meanwhile, the Yankees’ newest member, Chisholm Jr., is having a fanboy moment with the Bombers. He expressed his excitement about joining his dream team on Instagram by sharing a reference from the popular sitcom 'Seinfeld'.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. was added to the lineup after JD Davis was designated for the assignment. He played centerfielder on Sunday, while the captain Aaron Judge played designated hitter. Chisholm Jr. went 1-for-5 and scored a run in his first game for the Yankees.

Having played as a utility player for the Marlins, Chisholm Jr. brings versatility to the Yankees. The Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone plans to play him in the infield for future games, but the position is not decided yet.

“I want him to start working there [at third base]. It’s not something he’s played,” Boone said, per MLB.com. “He came up as a shortstop, and I feel like he has the skill set to do it.
"He’s open to doing it, but I want to see how that looks. … I think it’s something that has been a part of his game and will continue to be a part of his game, that defensive versatility.”

Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s dream comes true in New York

In Sunday’s post-game conference, Jazz Chisholm Jr. expressed his debut experience after joining the Yankees.

"It was super exciting. I mean, every kid dreams of being a Yankee," Chisholm Jr. told the media after his first appearance in pinstripes.
"You know, it's the most famous team in baseball that Derek Jeter played on. Everybody's favorite player was Derek Jeter growing up. I had him as an owner, so I just feel like it was only right to come on and put on the uniform."

The Yankees got Chisholm Jr. in exchange for Agustin Ramirez, Jared Serna and Abrahan Ramirez. With two arbitration years left before becoming a free agent in 2027, Chisholm Jr.'s ability to address the Yankees' struggling infield could quickly make him a fan favorite
