Lifted by MVP candidate Aaron Judge, the New York Yankees advanced to the American League Championship Series after defeating the Kansas City Royals 3-1 in Game 4 of the ALDS. It will be the second appearance in three years for the Bombers in the championship series.

After the victory, the Yankees celebrated in grand fashion as champagne popped in the Kauffman Stadium duguout. Yankees stars like Juan Soto, Giancarlo Stanton and Jazz Chisholm Jr. ignited a chant of "MVP" for the team's skipper.

Despite his struggles this postseason, Aaron Judge recorded a hit, a run and two walks in the series-clinching victory. He's batting .154 in the playoffs, but the team seem to be unaffected by the captain's struggles. After all, he's one of the biggest factors why they dominated the regular season en route the elimination rounds.

The Yankees closed out the division series, claiming three games to the Royals' one. It was a relatively short round for the team as they now await the winner of the Cleveland Guardians-Detroit Tigers tilt for a chance to win the American League pennant.

Aaron Judge records another historic campaign

After breaking the record for the most home runs hit by an American League player in 2022, with 62, Aaron Judge is once again poised to win the league's MVP this season.

The New York Yankees captain had another season for the history books in 2024. Aaron Judge recorded 58 homers, 144 runs batted in and 133 walks that led all of the majors. The star outfielder also tallied a slash line of .322/.458/.701 with an OPS of 1.159, the latter three stats being MLB-best.

Including this year, Judge has been selected as an All-Star for four straight seasons. He has also been in the MVP rankings in the same time span, having bagged the award in 2022 after edging out Shohei Ohtani.

The Yankees captain has struggled to hit his stride in the postseason, but if there's a player who can turn on the switch in an instant, it's Judge.
