K-pop star DK from SEVENTEEN has once again expressed his love for baseball. During his group's concert in Los Angeles, the global sensation paid tribute to one of his idols, Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani.
A video from a Carat (SEVENTEEN's fandom name) showed DK shouting, "I love Ohtani!" before throwing an imaginary pitch. The K-pop star is a big baseball fan who said his childhood dream was to play professional baseball. DK, or sometimes Dokyeom, has also attended games to support his favorite player, Ohtani.
The K-pop superstar was in attendance when the Dodgers won the World Series title against the New York Yankees in Game 6 of this year's Fall Classic.
DK honored Ohtani during the group's two-night concert at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles as a part of its "Right Here World Tour." The next leg of SEVENTEEN's tour will be held at the Vantelin Dome in Nagoya, Japan, on Nov. 29.
K-pop group STAYC made a funny blunder during a concert in Texas
K-pop and MLB have been intertwined for a while now. Global sensation Psy, who was famous for his hit Gangnam Style, visited Hyun-jin Ryu at Dodger Stadium in 2013.
However, not all interactions were created equally, as the girl group STAYC found out during their Dallas concert stop in 2023. Having occurred during the Texas Rangers' mighty run toward the World Series last year, the famous girl band wanted to pay tribute to the Rangers by wearing their jerseys.
The funny blunder happened when the women appeared on stage at The Factory in Deep Ellum in Dallas wearing soccer club Rangers FC jerseys.
The mistake put the group on the map as it pulled three fandoms all at once, namely, baseball, soccer and K-pop fans. Apart from using the color blue, no similarities can be drawn between the Texas Rangers and Rangers FC. Not one to miss the rare opportunity, Rangers, which is based in Glasgow, Scotland, invited STAYC to their home turf.
STAYC perhaps was the lucky charm that the Texas Rangers needed as they claimed their first title as a franchise in 2023. Meanwhile, Rangers FC finished as the runner-up in the Scottish Premiership the same calendar year after Celtic claimed the championship.
