Logan Gilbert is among the 32 MLB players who are set to make their maiden appearance in the All-Star game this year. Being selected as an All-Star is always a huge honor for every player, and it is extremely special when they get called up to the Midsummer Classic for the first time. This is beautifully exemplified in a short video where Gilbert breaks the news to his parents over the phone.

The Seattle Mariners shared the video of their starting pitcher this Monday through their official account on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The video starts with Logan Gilbert ringing up his mother and asking where his parents currently are. Keeping the suspense going, he casually asks her if they are free next weekend to come see him in Texas. Gilbert finally tells her that he has been picked for the All-Star game, and immediately screams of joy could be heard at the other end, followed by tears of delight.

Clearly bowled over by the news, his parents promised they would definitely be at the Globe Life Field in Arlington this weekend to watch the showcase event. They told him that he had now achieved a childhood dream, to which Gilbert easily agreed. He also expressed his gratitude to his mom and dad for all the support they had given him to be where he is now.

During the conversation Logan Gilbert had with his parents over the phone, his father said that his teammate Bryce Miller might follow him and become an All-Star next year. Gilbert smiled at the thought and agreed that he could be.

"Well, you know what Bryce said: he lets you do everything, and then he copies you the next year. So next year might be his year. You can tell him that," Gilbert's father said.

Logan Gilbert has been the standout performer in a vaunted Seattle Mariners starting rotation that also features Luis Castillo, George Kirby, and Bryce Miller.

Gilbert leads the rotation with his 2.91 ERA, 117.2 IP, and 0.918 WHIP, which made him the only All-Star selection from the team this year. Meanwhile, the Mariners currently have the second-best rotation in the American League in terms of ERA (3.45).
