New York Mets rookie shortstop Luisangel Acuna recorded his first major league hit on Saturday against the Philadelphia Phillies. Acuna was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Luisangel Acuna’s hit came in the fourth inning against Phillies pitcher Taijuan Walker. After going 2-0, Acuna hit a single with a 100.5 mph exit velocity on Walker’s 91.5 mph sinker.

His single was an uncanny mirror image of his brother Ronald Acuna Jr.'s first hit, which was also a single through the middle. Here’s a clip comparing the two brothers’ hits:

Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. recorded his first major league hit against the Cincinnati Reds off pitcher Kevin Shackelford in April 2018.

Luisangel Acuna had another single in the ninth inning, a 274-foot hit with a 102.6 mph exit velocity. He ended his debut game with two hits in four at-bats during the Philadelphia Phillies' 6-4 victory against the New York Mets.

The Mets, who were coming off an 11-3 victory in their series opener, have split the first two games of their three-game series.
