The Atlanta Braves scored three runs against the New York Mets on a double from Ozzie Albies in the eighth inning, with Michael Harris II completing the final run to put his team up by one in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Braves centerfielder then proceeded to celebrate the run in the dugout by mocking the Mets' signature routine, which they generally employ after a home run.

Jomboy Media posted a short video clip of Michael Harris performing the dance move through their official profile on X, formerly Twitter.

Although the regular season had ended on Sunday for the rest of the MLB, the Braves and the Mets still had a couple of games to go after two clashes of their three-game series last week had to be postponed due to inclement weather. Therefore, the two teams were set to play a doubleheader this Monday to end their season, with playoff hopes riding on the pair of games for both parties.

In their first meeting on Monday, the Braves had one foot into the playoffs after holding a three-run lead at the end of seven innings. However, the Mets rallied back from the deficit in the eighth and took a three-run lead of their own, courtesy of a three-run homer from Brandon Nimmo.

It was the Braves' turn to fight back next, as Jarred Kelenic reduced the lead by one before they had the bases loaded up for Ozzie Albies. The Braves second baseman came through in the clutch with a double to left field, which allowed all three runners to score and push their team into a 7-6 lead in the game.

Michael Harris II was the last of the three runners to score on the extra-base hit. The 23-year-old looked completely pumped up by his effort when he exchanged high-fives with his teammates on the bench. Harris II just could not control his rushing adrenaline as he then faced the field and started motioning his hands to mock the Mets celebration routine.

Michael Harris II celebration bites back immediately

When Michael Harris II scored the seventh run for the Atlanta Braves to complete a comeback, their fans and players must have clearly felt that the result would be secured in their favor. Even though the celebrations from Harris II were premature, it was probably a riposte to New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo for the tongue-out gesture he displayed after hitting his home run.

The overt celebrations from Michael Harris II came back to haunt the Braves. In the top of the ninth inning, Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor hit a two-run home run to earn the Mets an 8-7 victory and seal their place in the postseason.

Eventually, the Braves also secured their berth in the playoffs following their 3-0 win over the Mets in the second game of the doubleheader.
