Right after the 2024 MLB All-Star game, MLB legends Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter and David Ortiz weighed in with their choices for the 2024 World Series winner. All three of them appeared as guests on FOX Sports' postgame show, where they revealed their favorite team for this year's World Series championship.
Jeter made his pick and didn't choose his former team, the New York Yankees. Instead, he predicted the Finals to be between the Philadelphia Phillies and Baltimore Orioles.
"I think Phillies go to the World Series and I think they're going to be facing the Baltimore Orioles. And the reason why I say that is the Orioles minor league system is stacked and they're the team that's in the best position, trade deadline. So I think Baltimore goes to the World Series, ultimately Phillies win," Jeter said.
On the other hand, Rodriguez remained loyal to the Yankees. He predicted the Yankees would be able to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Finals this year:
"Not so fast captain. This is base KB on Brian Cashman, having a huge trade deadline moment. Maybe a big move or two poppy and what I like is if he does I like the Yankees winning over the Dodgers in a rematch of the 81 World Series in seven. Yankees in seven over the Dodgers," Rodriguez said.
Finally, Ortiz instantly gave the sign to a person off-camera, who tossed him the Boston Red Sox helmet. Ortiz wore the helmet and started poking Jeter and Rodriguez as he said his former team Red Sox would figure out a way to defeat the Philadelphia Phillies and win the World Series:
"I gotta go to my Red Sox. Remember what I told you, 'Jack of all trades, master of none,' the front office. We're gonna make some move, we're gonna get what we need and we're gonna get the Philly at their house," Ortiz said.
Alex Rodriguez passes down advice to Seattle Mariners' Julio Rodriguez
Alex Rodriguez debuted in the majors at the age of 18 and was able to captivate fans with his talent at a young age. Years later, Julio Rodríguez has done the same and became the face of the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park.
This week, "A-Rod", now a respected MLB analyst for FOX, had his first conversation with Seattle Sports' Brock and Salk about Julio Rodriguez:
"I think being in Seattle helps a lot,” Alex Rodriguez said. “I think the fact that you’re not in New York or Boston or L.A. allows you to grow up at a pace that is conducive for greatness. And I think we’ve seen that right now with Julio. You stay in the process, you continue to work hard every single day. You avoid the big mistakes."
Even though "J-Rod" is facing a slump this season with only a .267 batting average and 10 homers to his name so far, he's expected to make a comeback after the All-Star break.
