The Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts didn't repeat the same mistake, especially when he was robbed of a home run to a phenomenal catch. In the NLDS Game 2 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres, the Padres outfielder Jurickson Profar caught the ball when hit deep in the field.
However, the scenario was changed this time because Mookie Betts hit the ball this Tuesday in left field. Jurickson Profar again rushed for another similar catch, but it went for the home run, giving the Dodgers a 1-0 lead over the Padres.
Due to a similar incident in Game 2, Betts made it to the first base and believed that Profar might catch it again. So, exactly when Betts thought about moving toward the dugout, Max Muncy waved his right arm, telling him to keep going, and Mookie Betts began his run once again.
Betts took one of the best paybacks, as the Dodgers fans were quite enraged by the Game 2 catch of Jurickson Profar. So much so that it was even delayed for 12 minutes because the fans wouldn't stop throwing baseballs and other stuff at Profar for robbing the Dodgers of a homer.
The only thing that didn't change is the Dodgers losing to the Padres, as they fell short with a score of 6-5.
Mookie Betts fought out of his playoff slump
The Los Angeles Dodgers have gotten closer to getting eliminated from the postseason, however, it seems that Betts has come out of the playoff slump. Ever since the series with the Padres started, Betts remained hitless.
In fact, in the last 22 postseason matches before Tuesday's home run, the shortstop didn't have one run to show off, while only 3 runs in the past 44 postseason matches. Before Game 3 started, Betts addressed his skid and how he's trying to overcome it.
"Especially — you guys are doing your jobs but you’re asking me about it,” Betts said. “So there’s no way to get away from it. The whole world knows. It’s not like it’s a secret. I know. Nobody’s telling me anything I don’t know already. Nobody can be any harder on myself. Only thing I can really do is look forward but I know it’s there."
Betts wasn't wrong, as he broke his hitless streak with one of the best home runs of the NLDS series between Dodgers and Padres.
