Apart from his hustle on the diamond, Mookie Betts is known for fetching interesting stories from guests on his “On Base with Mookie Betts,” podcast. But the eight-time All-Star had an interesting guest for his latest episode of the podcast as he invited Fernando Tatis Jr. while the Dodgers battled San Diego in a three-game series.

Ahead of the series finale on Thursday, a potential NL West title decider between the division rivals, Betts went live with Tatis Jr. on the Bleacher Report app. With the series tied heading into the final game, Betts addressed why it was important to talk despite the high-voltage tussle between the arch-rivals.

“A lot of people in the chat, and I’m sure in the comments and what not, are thinking that and saying that it’s funny and kind of crazy that we’re doing a podcast right now in the midst of the race,” Betts said.
“My take on it is … we’ll be fighting to win the game. That’s a given. That’s between the lines. But I think I may have said it before: The brotherhood that’s created playing this game is what you’ll always remember.”

Fernando Tatis Jr. acknowledged Betts' words and felt it was necessary to share the respect off the field despite coming to the game from different walks of life.

The Dodgers came from behind in the series finale on Thursday against the Padres to not only claim the series decider but also win an 11th NL West title in 12 years.

Mookie Betts, who got together for a podcast episode during the series, displayed professionalism, contributing to the team's 7-2 win with a two-run single in the seventh inning.

Although Fernando Tatis Jr. and the Padres will be disappointed with the result, a deep run in the postseason might see him square off against Betts and the Dodgers for a blockbuster series.
