Paul Skenes' girlfriend Olivia Dunne performs for the LSU Tigers in gymnastics. Over the last few years, she has garnered a massive following on social media, elevating her to one of the highest-earning college athletes through NIL.
Her boyfriend and Pittsburgh Pirates rookie also boasts a massive following and his popularity has only increased ever since he made his debut in MLB in May. Dunne and Skenes own a pet dog named Roux, who also has a social media account that has over 3k followers.
On Tuesday, Olivia Dunne posted a promotional video for Purina Pro Plan, which provides food for dogs and other animals. During the video, Dunne talks about her pet, who loves her the same way irrespective of how she performs on the mat.
"The discipline that goes into the sport of gymnastics is astonishing," Dunne said in the video. "Those hard days in the gym that not many people see, it's definitely one of the hardest sports out there. Roux is my little break from reality, like she doesn't care about all the outside noise, like she just gets me and I get her and the time we have together is so special."
The voiceover is playing while Dunne does some gymnastics moves and stretches at home. She then proceeds to play with and pet her little pup Roux.
Why did Paul Skenes and Olivia Dunne become dog parents?
Growing up Olivia Dunne loved dogs. Her family had a golden retriever named Biscuit. When Biscuit passed, Dunne shared her idea of adopting a dog with Paul Skenes.
In an interview with Country Living, Dunne shared what went into their decision to adopt Roux in Oct. 2023.
“We just wanted a dog that gave us unconditional love, and that’s what we got. So Roux is super special to us,” Dunne said.
While the original plan was for Roux to keep Paul Skenes company during spring training, instead Livvy decided to keep her with her in Baton Rouge. However, she mentioned that Skenes gets to visit Roux often as she often makes trips to Pittsburgh and tags Roux along with her.
