Paul Skenes's girlfriend Olivia Dunne was a member of the title-winning LSU Tigers women's gymnastics team in the last NCAA season. It was a close battle during the tournament finals at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas that saw LSU claim their first championship in program history.

Dunne previously announced that she would be back for the upcoming season which marks the end of her eligibility period. Ahead of their next campaign, the defending champions have been ramping up their preparations. In a series of highlights posted by LSU on Instagram, the team shared snippets of their preparation and executed their famed flawless routines.

Alongside Olivia Dunne, the highlights featured other stars on the team such as 2021 NCAA Vault champion Hayleigh Bryant, 2024 Paris Olympian Aleah Finnegan, and versatile gymnast Kiya Johnson.

The number two-seeded LSU squad won the title after holding off California, Utah, and Florida in an intense final. The Tigers won the title by a .375 point difference in totals over third-seeded California. Meanwhile, two-time defending champion Oklahoma surprisingly fumbled in the semi-finals, causing them to be eliminated earlier than expected.

Paul Skenes was named the 2024 National League Rookie of the Year over San Diego Padre Jackson Merrill and Milwaukee Brewer Jackson Chourio. Skenes posted a stellar 11-3 win-loss tally with a 1.96 ERA and 170 strikeouts in 23 starts for the Pittsburgh Pirates. His impressive season also earned him a place in the All-MLB First Team, a rare honor for rookie pitchers.

During his awarding, Skenes's girlfriend Olivia Dunne was seen holding her laughter in, when the rookie fireballer was given the honor. Dunne had to hold herself back due to Skenes's brief reply of, "This is cool," when asked about what the honor meant to him.

Skenes was awarded through telecast while he was celebrating the evening with his girlfriend and friends at the Colonel's Club in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
