Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen could just be any other name in the team's bullpen. However, in Game 4 of the NLCS against the New York Mets, the righty was tasked to navigate the dangerous part of the Mets' lineup.
It was a total success for Treinen as he was able to make life difficult for Pete Alonso, Brandon Nimmo and Jesse Winker. Known for his sinker and slider, he made the Mets look ridiculous in his brief appearance on the mound.

Blake Treinen was inserted in the top of the bottom inning and made quick work of Jesse Winker. He then struck out home run threat Pete Alonso. The pitcher then moved on to Brandon Nimmo. He gave up a single to Nimmo but made his life difficult. He then forced a flyout from Starling Marte to prevent the Mets from getting any momentum heading into the eighth inning.
The veteran was pulled in the bottom of the eighth and was replaced by Edgardo Henriquez after 1 and 1/3 innings. In his brief appearance, Treinen gave up no runs and two hits while striking out one batter. He was also awarded with a hold, his first of the postseason.
The Dodgers drubbed the Mets once again, this time at the latter's own turf, winning 10-2 at Citi Field. They are now one win away from the 2024 World Series and if successful in clinching the series in the next game, would face the winner of the ALCS between the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians.
Blake Treinen's pitching repertoire
Blake Treinen has been wheeling and dealing for the Dodgers this year. During the regular season, the reliever tallied a record of 7-3 in 50 appearances and 46.2 innings pitched. He also has 56 strikeouts to go along with a respectable 1.93 ERA.
However, for Dodgers fans, this is nothing new from the reliever. Treinen has been a reliable hand in the club's bullpen since 2020. The veteran also owns a mix of hard-to-hit pitches that include a discus/frisbee-like slider to go along with his signature sinker.

Treinen's prowess was on full display against the Mets. The Dodgers will look to close out the series and book their tickets to the World Series with another win in Game 5 on Friday.
