Game 1 of the National League Championship Series clash between the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets is nothing short of a barn burner. The California squad is gunning for a trip to the World Series since 2020, while the team from the Big Apple is keen on continuing their hot streak since the middle of June.

While several storylines have developed in the high-stakes matchup, the main focus is on the team's superstars, Shohei Ohtani for the Dodgers and Francisco Lindor for the Mets.

In a particular passage of play, Ohtani was standing at second base while facing the direction of the plate. While his back was turned on Lindor, the Mets infielder suddenly hurled the ball too close to the two-way star's head. This merited a shocked but somewhat dubious reaction from Ohtani.

Fortunately, the Japanese superstar didn't get hit nor the incident escalated to a commotion between the squads. There seemed to be no intent from Lindor and it was just recorded as a baseball play.

Dodgers shut down the Mets

The Los Angeles Dodgers continue their dominant ways as they trample over the New York Mets in Game 1 of their NLCS matchup. The Blue Crew ended the game with a 9-0 scoreline without even registering a home run to its name.

Integral to the team's success is the team's pitching. The team hasn't surrendered a run since Game 3 of the National League Division Series against the San Diego Padres. That makes it three straight games wherein the pitching staff hasn't let the opponents score.

Jack Flaherty produced a seven-inning shift of no-run ball while only surrendering two hits and two walks with six strikeouts. Daniel Hudson and Ben Casparius came in from the bullpen to preserve the team's pristine no-runs surrendered record.

On the flip side, New York Mets starter Kodai Senga was pulled after 1 and 1/3 innings after surrendering three early runs and walking four batters. Four succeeding relievers were utilized by the Mets but only Danny Young came out clean, surrendering no runs.
