Dodger Stadium was noisy throughout Game 5 of the NLDS but it only grew louder when Teoscar Hernandez slammed a solo home run in the seventh inning off Yu Darvish to give the Los Angeles Dodgers an important 2-0 lead over the San Diego Padres.
The hit came at a big time since the Dodgers only had one run on the board and a big swing here and there from Padres bats could evaporate the lead anytime.
A side view of the entire Teoscar Hernandez home run showed how Dodgers fans went bonkers as soon as he let the cannon loose from his barrel. They erupted in cheers and huge roars as the Dodgers extended their lead in the win-or-go-home game.
Previously in the second inning, Kike Hernandez belted a home run in right field off Yu Darvish to give the Dodgers their first run lead. Five scoreless innings from Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto also ensured there was no threat of offense from the Padres.
Finally, Blake Treinen was tasked to protect 2-0 lead in the top of the ninth inning. The Dodgers closer retired Padres hitters in order to punch their tickets in NLCS where they'll be facing the New York Mets.
The Mets are having their own underdog run, taking out big names such as the Braves and then the Phillies in the NLDS.
Teoscar Hernandez previous top moment in the NLDS series
Friday's game wasn't the only time Teoscar Hernandez has come clutch for the Dodgers in the ongoing series.
Previously in Game 3 at Petco Park, the Dodgers were put under pressure early on after the Padres scored six runs in the second inning off Walker Buehler. However, with three straight singles loading up the bases, Hernandez smoked a grand slam off Michael King to cut the deficit to 6-5 and keep the Dodgers alive in the game.
However, that's another thing that the Dodgers couldn't score a single run post that game to tie it up, as the Padres ended up eventually winning it 6-5.
