New York Yankees icon Alex Rodriguez attended Western Conference semifinals Game 7 between the Denver Nuggets and the Minnesota Timberwolves in Denver. As a minority owner of the Wolves, who is currently battling for more stake, Rodriguez was pumped up following the 98-90 Game 7 win by the Wolves over the defending champions.
Edwards was the star of the series for Minnesota, which took down the mighty, three-time MVP Nikola Jokic-led unit. The Timberwolves won the first two games of the series, followed by Denver's surge to win three straight and put Minnesota in Game 6 elimination. Edwards and team blew them out in Game 6 and put in another commanding performance in Game 7 to advance to the conference finals.
Following the conclusion of the game, the 'Ant' met up with Alex Rodriguez and the two shared an iconic handshake followed by a pat in the back from the minority owner to celebrate the victory.
Now the Timberwolves will face the Dallas Mavericks in the conference finals.
Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore's ownership conflict with Glen Taylor heads to arbitration
The Minnesota Timberwolves are going through a good year but off the field, ownership is taking a swing.
The ownership dispute started when billionaire owner Glen Taylor pulled out of a deal with Alex Rodriguez and his partner Marc Lore, who purchased a 40% minority stake in the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx for $1.5 billion. However, delayed payments have resulted in Lore dismissing the agreement.
This led to A-Rod and Lore getting into mediation rounds with Taylor with regards to holding up the agreement. As reported by Forbes, both parties are heading to arbitration to raise their concerns with A-Rod and his partner seeking ownership.
According to Pablo Torre, the duo has paid the final $600 million required to finish the agreement to acquire a second 40% ownership by the March deadline. The duo claims to have submitted the required paperwork and approval by the league to trigger a 90-day extension for the remaining payment.
As per the lawyers having knowledge about the situation, Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore have a compelling case to reinstate the original agreement. It remains to be seen what unfolds in arbitration.
