The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed super-utility man Tommy Edman for five seasons from 2025 to 2029. Edman will receive a $17 million signing bonus, and his total extension value is $25 million, which will be paid out in a decade, beginning five years after the deal is complete.
Edman has already signed up for 2025 with the Dodgers, earning $9.5 million in the next year. His contract is worth $64.5 million for the next four years, and he is currently being represented by the agent Jonathan Weiss.
Edman attended the Meet & Greets at the Cardboard Legends, where he met a fan through FaceTime who couldn't attend the event due to their circumstances. Despite the fan's absence, Edman signed a baseball for the young Dodgers fan.
Edman secured his spot in the Dodgers during the NLCS of the 2024 season, as he earned 11 runs. He made his name in the team in the five World Series games, hitting .988 OPS and six runs.
In the previous season, Edman went through a right wrist surgery and an ankle issue, however, he still managed to slash .237/.294/.417 with 6 homers, 6 stolen bases, and 20 RBIs in 37 games.
Tommy Edman talks about his five-year extension with the Los Angeles Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Tommy Edman has signed an extension contract with the team after winning the World Series Championship with the same team. He's talked about getting ready to wear the same jersey again in the upcoming 2025 season.
"Yeah, no, I mean, I knew that I wanted to be here for a long time once I got traded here, you know, it's just the ideal situation for myself and my family. So I was really excited when I found out that they were interested in an extension as well. And I'm glad we got it done relatively early in the offseason," Edman stated.
During the interview, Edman was also asked about his Thanksgiving vacation, where he mentioned:
"It was great, you know, got some good quality family time, ate a lot of turkey, and obviously had the great day yesterday with finding out I'm gonna be here for another five years," he added.
Edman will prove to be an asset for the team, as he can easily play all over the diamond and can also shift from the infield position to the outfield any day.
