The Oakland Athletics are in the middle of their final series at their current stadium. The ongoing and polarizing relocation of the club to Las Vegas means that the franchise's time in the Bay Area is drawing to an end with the club's final home game, which is set for Thursday.
Even though there is a game against the Texas Rangers on Thursday, two Oakland Athletics fans took it upon themselves to try and take their own souvenir on Tuesday.
In a video that has now been making the rounds on social media, two A's fans can be seen holding a section of the stadium's seating above their heads.
In the video, two fans can be seen with a two-seater section of the Oakland Coliseum in their hands. While the viral video claims that the fans were hoping to make their way out of the stadium with the seats, they reportedly only ended up with a number of cheers from those around him.
According to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, the fans were unsuccessful in their attempt to take the seats out of the Oakland Coliseum.
Slusser posted on her X account that not only was the section of seating re-installed, but any destruction to the stadium in no way harms the club's polarizing owner, John Fisher, as he does not own it.
It remains to be seen what will happen on Thursday during the Oakland Athletics' final game at the Coliseum. The fanbase has been infuriated by John Fisher and the way he has run the team for years.
It will be interesting to see if the final game will be highlight by a celebration of the team's history or one final act of frustration.
The Oakland Athletics will move to Sacramento for the next 3 seasons
Despite A's fan hoping to see John Fisher sell the team in the hopes of the franchise returning to it's former glory, the owner chose instead to relocate the club. Following the Oakland Athletics game on Thursday, their next "home" game will be held next season at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento, California.
After Fisher discontinued conversations with the City of Oakland to keep the team in the area, the decision was made to move the team to Las Vegas.
Now the team will play at the Triple-A ballpark in Sacramento as their new stadium is being built. It has been an incredibly frustrating saga for A's fans who will likely come out in full force on Thursday as a send-off to the Coliseum.
