WWE superstar Randy Orton, aka The Viper, threw the first pitch at Busch Stadium ahead of the game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday. The WWE star was in a Cardinals jersey as he took the mound to throw the ceremonial pitch.

The St. Louis native threw a breaking ball, which was high. It was caught by Alec Burleson, and Orton felt relieved after throwing it in the dirt.

After the first pitch, Orton met several Cardinals players. He met first baseman Alec Burleson and wished them well for their game against the Rays.

Randy Orton was born and brought up in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Elaine and professional wrestler Bob Orton Jr. After completing his graduation from Hazelwood Central High School in 1998, Orton joined the United States Marine Corps but was soon discharged from duties due to misconduct.

Apart from his career in the ring, Orton has also worked in movies, including That's What I Am (2011), 12 Rounds 2: Reloaded (2013), and The Condemned 2 (2015).

Randy Orton reveals one player from Cardinals who can have a career in professional wrestling

As a wrestler, one needs to satisfy a lot of attributes, including the body's physical strength, build-up and mental fortitude to take the beating. However, upon being asked, Orton named one St. Louis Cardinals player who he believes can hack in pro wrestling.

Orton named Alec Burleson as one person who can get into wrestling, judging by his physical attributes and mental fortitude.

"It’s not a bad question, it’s a very good question. I think he could hack it because he’s a pro athlete. I think any of these guys could hack it. When they have made it to this level, the dedication, the determination that gets them here, they would just apply that in the pro wrestling world,” Orton said via Inside the Ropes.

As for Tuesday's game, the Cardinals took down the Tampa Bay Rays 5-2. Alec Burleson went 2-4 and contributed two RBIs in the game.
