Juan Soto has officially made an enemy out of a lot of New York Yankees fans. The superstar slugger broke the mold on Sunday night with a stunning 15-year, $765 million deal with the New York Mets. Yankees fans, many of whom can't believe he chose their crosstown rival, are simply irritated by this move.
One such fan went to Citi Field to record a now-viral message for the four-time All-Star. It is expletive-laden and certainly NSFW, but it paints a vivid picture of how at least one Yankee fan feels.
The fan, whose name on X is Jon from Maspeth, said:
"Hey Juan Soto, listen up, man. [Citi Field] is your new f*****g home. Shut the f**k up and don't f*****g complain. Look at this s**thole. Look at this f*****g s**thole. Right across the street, look at this f*****g dump. Road f*****g closed. You chose this piece of s**t to be your home for the next 15 f*****g years 'cause you're a money-hungry f*****g b***h."
The rant didn't end there:
"F**k you, f**k you! Every Yankee fan should burn your f*****g jersey. F**k you Juan Soto, suck my f*****g d**k. F**k you, too, Scott Boras! Suck my f*****g d**k!"
This particular Yankees fanatic is upset that Soto chose the Mets, so much so that it drove him to drive to Citi Field to air his grievances. The post has received over 2,700 reposts and quotes as well as 12.2K likes at the time of writing.
Yankees offered more years for Juan Soto
Though it was all for naught, the Yankees did their best to sign Juan Soto back. They didn't outbid the Mets, reportedly offering $5 million less overall, but they did give the slugger more years. Their offer topped out at 16 years, $760 million.
That would have drastically lowered the AAV from $51 million to $47.5 million, and Soto and agent Scott Boras didn't go for it even though it would have locked Soto up in pinstripes until he was 42.
Now, the Yankees must pivot to other free agents and use that $760 million or more to fill out the holes remaining on their roster. Christian Walker, Alex Bregman, Corbin Burnes and Max Fried have all been linked to the Yankees.
