Former Boston Red Sox star David Ortiz was at the Fanatics Fest along with many celebrities at the Javits Center in New York over the weekend. There, he did something that he had never done in his 20 seasons, especially after coming to Boston in 2003.

The New York Yankees-Red Sox rivalry is one of the fiercest in all of baseball. Players from both teams were so loyal that they never used to sign baseball gear for those wearing the opposing club's threads. However, that changed on Sunday, when a young fan came in with a Yankees jersey for Ortiz to sign on.

David Ortiz happily signed on it while also mentioning:

"This is my first Yankee gesture I've ever seen in my life. I love it. Perfect."

David Ortiz fulfills Make-A-Wish's kid wish of meeting the Red Sox legend

During the Fanatics Fest, Make-A-Wish, a program dedicated to fulfilling the wishes of children suffering from critical illnesses, arranged a VIP greet and meet with Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz.

Chris Hohn, a 10-year-old Boston Red Sox fan, got to meet "Big Papi" at the event with the help of Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The two engaged in a fun conversation and also clicked some photos.

"He came over and gave me an immediate hug," Hohn said. "It was just like being in front of one of my favorite sports athletes, and it just felt really good inside. He's a Boston guy, he's very inspirational and he really helps me through a lot of stuff."

Hohn is suffering from a genetic condition requiring him to undergo 17 surgeries, as per CBS Sports. Despite all the challenges, he remains steadfast and positive in his approach.

"His disease is progressive and it's so rare it's hard to determine what the long term looks like," said Chris Hohn's mother, Emily Viti. "The timing of this wish from Fanatics and Make-A-Wish couldn't have been more perfect.
"I think it's a great reminder that there are wonderful people in the world and just like Christopher said, you're never alone. And the moments where you think you might be, it's important to reach out and ask for support and it's just a good reminder to know that that support is really always there."

Currently, David Ortiz works as a FOX Sports analyst and is part of the crew involving former rivals Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter.
