Team Cuba finally showed the world what they can do. After a dreadful start to the 2023 World Baseball Classic, the team was desperate for a win. Losses to Italy and the Netherlands meant a win was vital to keep any hopes of progression alive.

After a shaky start to the game, the Cuban bats woke up. The offense combined for eleven runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to put the game out of reach. Team Cuba went on to defeat Panama 13-4 to record their first win of the WBC.

Cuban fans finally had something to cheer about. Many analysts predicted the team would finish first in the group. The victory provides hope to a nation that is fanatical about their baseball.

WBC fans took to Twitter to celebrate a much-needed victory for this talented Cuban team.

The talent in the Cuban lineup is there for all to see. There are some top tier MLB stars on the roster.

Center fielder Luis Robert Jr. had a breakout season with the Chicago White Sox in 2022. He played 98 games and finished with 56 RBIs and a .284 batting average.

Pitcher Ronald Bolanos impressed during his spell in the majors with the Kansas City Royals and San Diego Padres.

Miguel Romero also had a big game, pitching three scoreless innings and striking out four hitters to record his first win of the World Baseball Classic.

MLB veteran Yoan Moncada led Team Cuba to a crucial 13-4 victory over Panama

Fans were particularly impressed with Yoan Moncado's performance. The Chicago White Sox third baseman has been one of MLB's most consistent hitters over the last few seasons.

Monacada finished the night 3-5 with four RBIs and a walk. His RBI single to put Cuba in front 5-4 in the sixth came at a critical stage.

Cuban manager Armando Johnson will understand that there is still a lot of work to be done. The team will face Chinese Taipei on Sunday in a must-win game. Team Cuba will also need Panama to win their last game to have any hopes of qualifying.
