Former Cy Young Award winner Trevor Bauer has been plying his trade in the Mexican League while he attempts to earn another opportunity in the MLB. The 33-year-old has been excellent throughout his first season with the Diablos Rojos del México as he attempts to prove why he deserves another chance in the majors.
One of the ways that Bauer has been able to remain in public attention has been by constantly posting videos of himself and his performances in Mexico. While the former Los Angeles Dodgers star has more often been posting videos of his highlights, particularly his strikeouts, one of his recent videos also showed that his game has not been flawless.
“We got ourselves in one big mess here," Bauer said to himself on the mound during one of his Mexican League games after a costly error and stolen base left a runner at third base, as well as a walk.
The two blips left runners on both first and third base, however, he was able to keep his composure and escape the jam.
"Who's our next victim, a righty?" Bauer asked himself on the mound before recording a flyout for the second out of the inning.
"Curveball on the plate," he told himself one last time before racking up a strikeout to end the inning.
It remains to be seen if Trevor Bauer will earn another shot in the MLB
Despite his presence and heavy following on social media as well as his impressive season in the Mexican League, it's unclear if Trevor Bauer will ever land another deal in the majors. The former Los Angeles Dodgers ace has not pitched in the MLB since 2021 after sexual assault allegations were made against him.
Even though he was cleared of any criminal wrongdoing, teams have been reluctant to offer him a new deal. Bauer said this offseason that he was willing to accept a minimum salary contract to play for an MLB franchise, yet no team has taken him up on that offer.
