On Saturday, Bryan De La Cruz and the Miami Marlins settled in for a long day against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. The two clubs scheduled a doubleheader following inclement weather postponing their Thursday matchup.

While the Cubs led most of the game, Miami struck at just the right time. In the top of the ninth, De La Cruz smoked a two-run homer, giving his club the 3-2 lead, which they would hold onto.

De La Cruz was responsible for all three runs Miami scored in Game 1 of their doubleheader. he also hit the sacrifice fly in the fifth, cutting Chicago's lead down to one.

This was a great morale-boosting win for a club that has struggled mightily this season. They will look to keep that momentum going into their evening matchup.

"We up right now" - one fan posted.
"De La Clutch" - posted another fan.
"World Series bound! Lol" - posted another.

Fans cannot believe how that game ended. There has not been much to write home about regarding this club, but finally, the fanbase has something to be excited about.

"We're in shock to admin. LFG!" - said another fan.
"Let's double it up today" - said another fan.
"Let's go! See you for Game 2! - said another.

The afternoon victory has fans beaming. They are ready for their club to take another one against the Cubs.

The Marlins 3-2 victory over the Cubs early on Saturday improved their record to 5-16. They are currently in last place in the National League East, 9.5 games behind the Atlanta Braves.

This is quite a surprising start for a team that made the postseason last year. Now, the only teams they have a better record than include the Chicago White Sox and Colorado Rockies. The team has been plagued by pitching injuries, which has been a big reason for their downfall.

While sluggers Luis Arraez and Bryan De La Cruz are hitting near .300, it has not been enough. Given their pitching situation, they need the rest of the lineup to get hot and score as many runs as possible.

Luckily, this is only the beginning of the season. Miami still has tons of time to climb out of the hole they dug.
