"We don't want them to be defined by their dad's name" - When Derek Jeter's wife Hannah Davis opened up on wanting 'normal' life for their kids

It is not easy being the face of a franchise like Derek Jeter was with the New York Yankees during his career. He was extremely dedicated to his craft, and it showed out there on the field. After retiring in 2014, Jeter turned his focus to his family, marrying model Hannah Davis in 2016. The couple now has four kids.

During Hannah's first pregnancy in 2017, she spoke about her desire for her kids to have a normal life. She shared the heartfelt message on The Players' Tribune (a media company that Jeter co-founded):

"We want our kids' lives to be as 'normal' as possible. They're going to be born into such an extraordinary situation. They're going to have to be some strong little people.

"We don't want them to be defined by their dad's name - for them, we want him to just be 'Dad.' That will be the piece of him they'll have that the rest of the world doesn't. It will be special, and it will be theirs."

Derek Jeter's oldest child is already starting to master sports

Bella is Derek Jeter's oldest daughter. She is seven years old and has been seen at plenty of New York Yankees games in the past.

She is also starting to dabble in sports. Jeter reminisced about Bella's introduction to tennis during a 2023 airing of The Tonight Show:

"One day we're talking and I say, 'Bella are you ready to go to tennis practice?' And she says, 'I don't want to go.' And I say, 'That's fine we'll find something else for you to do. But why don't you want to go?' She says, 'Dad, I already know how to play.'"

Jeter also mentioned in the same interview that his oldest is very confident when it comes to playing sports.
