YouTube TV had tremendous success when it began giving subscribers access to MLB Network programming through the platform. However, it looks increasingly likely that those who relied on YouTube TV last season will have to find an alternative before opening day.
As the official broadcast partner of the league itself, MLB Network gives its viewers unmatched access to action across the league. It also includes valuable color as well as pre and post-game commentary.
The MLB Network is set to broadcast several games daily throughout the 2023 season. However, most will be aired coincidentally with the feed of regional networks within a given team's area. Notably, blackout restrictions will apply to out-of-market fans.

YouTube TV was one of the streaming services of choice for fans looking to circumvent regional restrictions last season. For a price of $150 per year, you could catch action from anywhere in the league.
If you're a fan in Seattle who wanted to watch the New York Yankees, you wouldn't have a problem.
Unfortunately, for fans who used YouTubeTV to catch their favorite teams in action, things took a turn at the beginning of the year. YouTube TV and the network could not agree on their carriage fees. As a result, YouTube TV was then dropped as a streaming partner on February 1, 2023.

In the wake of this massive hole in the market, fuboTV has stepped up. The streaming service announced that fans can purchase an out-of-market extension package for as little as $24.99 per month. fuboTV also notably already has agreements with several regional networks.
AppleTV is another service that fans can use to catch action on the MLB Network, among a variety of other sources. Los Angeles Dodgers announcer Wayne Randozzo presents "Friday Night Baseball" exclusively on the service, which costs $6.99 per month.
It also features a comprehensive showing of action throughout the season.
"Anyone use FuboTV? Seems to have all the necessary TV channels and going to get Bally SD. Basically just need that and MLB TV" - Giannis Antiegotapoodle
Could the MLB Network return to YouTube TV
With over five million users, YouTube TV remains the largest internet television service in the US and will continue to broadcast games on ESPN, TBS, and Fox.
Whether or not the Network will be an irreplaceable partner remains to be seen.
