A City Connect jersey are a new MLB jersey type. These began in 2021 as a way for MLB teams to express themselves and their city. Each team had the ability to design one fun alternate jersey that speaks to the location they play in.

Each year, teams can get a new one. This allows them the opportunity to find new ways to honor their city and of course, make more money on jersey sales.

City Connect jerseys are supposed to be fun and significantly different from the main uniform. For example, the San Diego Padres' 2022 City Connect jerseys were bright and colorful, whereas their normal jerseys are more dull and brown.

Do all MLB teams have a City Connect jersey?

Several teams have them, but not every franchise has had one before. The plan is to eventually have all teams with City Connect uniforms, but not all teams want one.

The Yankees don't have a City Connect jersey

For example, the New York Yankees do not and have never really had an alternate jersey. One of the most historic franchises in sports is also one of the most archaic in that sense.

They have a lot of old-fashioned rules, such as the facial hair policy, and they're not one for fun, stylish jerseys. At home, they wear the iconic pinstripes and on the road, they wear their road grays. That's it and that's why they've not been too interested in having a unique, Bronx-themed jerseys.

The closest thing they have had to a City Connect uniform was during Players Weekend when teams had alternate colors (the Yankees had an all-black uniform) with fun nicknames on the back.
