LA Dodgers' southpaw Clayton Kershaw left Friday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks with no outs in the second inning. He gave up a solo home run to Corbin Carroll, after which Dodgers medical staff and manager Dave Roberts came to the mound. After discussion, Kershaw was headed to the dugout, possibly due to an injury.

Amid wide intrigue, the Dodgers announced, "It's big toe pain," for which Kershaw left the game. The severity of the injury is not known yet but if it's major, it will be a setback to the Dodgers' postseason hopes.

Here's the video on what unfolded on the mound:

After spending the entire first half of the season on the injured list recovering from a shoulder surgery he underwent in the offseason. The three-time NL Cy Young Award winner made a comeback on the 25th of July game against the San Francisco Giants. Coming into this game, Kershaw was 2-2, posting a 3.72 ERA.

Clayton Kershaw had a bad start vs Diamondbacks

Clayton Kershaw didn't have the best of starts to the game, giving up two runs in the first inning. Geraldo Perdomo crushed a leadoff double, followed by Randal Grichuk grounding out, allowing Perdomo to reach third with one out. Kershaw walked Lourdes Gurriel Jr.

An RBI single by Josh Bell allowed Perdomo to score. Jake McCarthy was hit by a pitch to load up the bases with only one out and Eugenio Suarez's sacrifice fly brought in the second run for the Snakes in the first inning. 2023 NL Rookie of the Year Corbin Carroll brought in another run with a solo home run off Kershaw in the second inning.

Clayton Kershaw ended his night, throwing 1.0 innings for three earned runs. While he may join Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the injured list, a bigger issue with the toe pain may also see him missing starts for the NL West leaders.

Kershaw's injury adds to the Dodgers' already thin starting rotation, which has several pitchers on the injured list or done for the season. Dustin May, Emmet Sheehan, and Tony Gonsolin are ruled out for the season. The Dodgers also have Tyler Glasnow on the injured list due to lower back tightness.
