"What a heartwarming full circle moment" - Tim Wakefield's daughter Brianna sends her best wishes to D'Angelo Ortiz for getting drafted by Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox drafted franchise legend David Ortiz's son, D'angelo Ortiz, in the 19th round of the MLB Draft 2024. Another Red Sox legend, Tim Wakefield's daughter, Brianna Wakefield, went public to congratulate his childhood friend and express her happiness on her Instagram Story.

She shared some childhood photos of them, where they can be seen in groups as well as running on the track.

"@dangeloortiz34 all I can say is congratulations! So proud of you and so lucky (to) have grown up with y’all in the family room ❤️ what a heartwarming full circle moment #goredsox," Brianna wrote in her social media story.

Both of their fathers spent almost a decade with each other on the Red Sox. Ortiz considered Tim Wakefield his family and sent his condolences when he died last October. The duo shared a locker room during their time at Fenway Park. Wakefield attended the ceremony when Ortiz was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

D'Angelo Ortiz was not the only son of a legend in the draft; the Los Angeles Angels picked Lucas Ramirez, Manny Ramirez's son, in the 17th round.

David Ortiz shared his feelings after his son, D'Angelo Ortiz, was drafted by the Red Sox.

"That was unbelievable," Ortiz said on FOX Tuesday. "When you see your kids moving forward in their lives towards being successful, a lot of motion goes through you."

Then he also addressed D'Angelo Ortiz directly through the camera live on the show.

"Big boy, let's do it," Ortiz added. "Let's keep up the good work. Daddy loves you."

So, even though the play style of D'Angelo is much different from that of his father, it's to be seen if his legacy would also take a different path in the Red Sox or not.
