What is Justin Wilson's contract with Milwaukee Brewers? Salary, contract length, and more

The Milwaukee Brewers have added Justin Wilson

Justin Wilson has just signed with the Milwaukee Brewers in what will be one of the final moves in free agency. Spring Training has already begun, with pitchers and catchers reporting a few days ago, but Wilson has just landed with his new team.

Wilson previously pitched for the Cincinnati Reds, a team he spent a season and a half with. He now heads to their division rival and will try to help get the Brew Crew back in the postseason.

Wilson signed just a one-year contract worth a total of $1 million, so the Brewers didn't have to break the bank to get him. He's just 35, so this likely won't be his final stop, either.

Justin Wilson's previous teams

Justin Wilson has made a nice career for himself over the past 11 seasons since his debut in 2012. He began his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates and spent the first three seasons of his career there.

He then moved to the American League for his first stint with the New York Yankees. It lasted just one season and he moved to the Detroit Tigers after that.

By the deadline next season (2017), Wilson was moved to the Chicago Cubs, so he was back in the National League and the NL Central.

He spent the 2018 season with the Cubs before landing with the New York Mets for the next two seasons. In 2021, he signed back with the Yankees but was traded at the deadline to the Reds, where he was until he signed with Milwaukee.

He's spent no more than three seasons with one team, and that was when he began his career with the Pirates.

Justin Wilson's expectations for 2023

Justin Wilson only appeared in five games during the 2023 season, but he pitched pretty well to the tune of a 2.45 ERA. He's not expected to replicate that success over the 2023 campaign.

He's projected by Baseball Reference to go 2-2 with a 4.20 ERA and throw just 30 innings in relief. The Brewers have a solid bullpen, so they won't need a ton from Wilson.
