Schwarber was born on March 5, 1993 in Middletown, Ohio. His parents are Greg, who is a police officer, and Donna Schwarber, who is a nurse. According to the Chicago Sun Times, Schwarber's paternal great-great grandfather, Otto, who was born in Baden, Germany, emigated to Cincinnati. Therefore, Schwarber and his three sisters are Americans of German descent.
Schwarber attended Middletown High School and played baseball for the four years he was a student there. He batted .408, had 18 home runs and 103 RBIs.
Schwarber played collegiate baseball for the Indiana Hoosiers. He signed with the Chicago Cubs after graduation.

Schwarber began playing baseball in high school. After graduating, he attended Indiana University Bloomington and became an Indiana Hoosier. As a member of the Hoosiers baseball team, he put up impressive numbers and was awarded numerous awards.
In 2014, Schwarber was drafted in the first round, fourth overall, by the Chicago Cubs. He played for the team from 2015 to 2020.
On January 9, 2021, the Washington Nationals announced that they had signed Schwarber to a one-year big league contract with a mutual option for 2022. On July 3, he was placed on the injured list due to a strained right hamstring.
Kyle was traded to the Boston Red Sox on July 29, 2021, in exchange for minor league pitcher Aldo Ramirez. He was activated off the injury list on August 13 and made his Red Sox debut that night against the Baltimore Orioles. On November 5, he declined his portion of the mutual option and went unsigned.
Kyle Schwarber signed a four-year, $79 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies on March 20, 2022. On October 19, 2022, he hit a 488-foot home run into the top deck of Petco Stadium during Game 1 of the National League Championship Series.
