What is Randy Arozarena's net worth as of March 2023? Exploring his annual earnings from contracts & deals he has signed

Although born in Cuba, Randy Arozarena represents Mexico on the international stage. It was there that he defected to in 2016 before embarking on his MLB career.

On March 17, he was instrumental for his country as they bested arch-rivals Puerto Rico and advanced to the semifinals of the 2023 World Baseball Classic. With a full count in the top of the eighth inning, Mexican hitter Emmanuel Rivera cranked a ball high and deep into left-centre field.

Arozarena got on his horse and made a leaping catch at the warning track to preserve Mexico's 5-4 lead. An inning later, the Mexicans closed out the deal and stamped their ticket to take on Japan in Miami on March 20.

Randy Arozarena's team, the Tampa Bay Rays, have come to expect this kind of defensive brilliance from the 28-year-old. The speed that Arozarena employs has proven to be very difficult for other teams to match.

Although he began his career with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2018 following his defection, he was traded to the Rays at the beginning of 2020. It wasn't long before the outfielder began to come into his own.

2021 was Arozarena's first full season in the MLB. In 119 games in the outfield, Arozarena made only a single error. Additionally, he hit .274/.356/.459 with 20 home runs, 69 RBIs and 20 stolen bases.

These stellar numbers were enough for Randy Arozarena to be crowned the 2021 AL Rookie of the Year, becoming the first Ray to win the honor since Wil Myers did so in 2013. One could even say that Arozarena was a major factor leading to the Rays' 2020 and 2021 divisional titles, their first since 2008.

Randy Arozarena posted 32 stolen bases in 2022, tying him with Cedric Mullins of the Baltimore Orioles for third place in the MLB. On the heels of another quality season, the Rays re-signed Arozarena to a one-year deal worth $4.15 million this past January.

Arozarena's salary mightn't sound like much, especially when compared to other MLB players. However, for a man who made just over $1 million between the 2020 and 2021 seasons, it represents a significant leveling up.

Based on Arozarena's current and past salaries, it can be estimated that he is worth somewhere in the realm of $5 million as of March 2023.

Although a WBC hero, Randy Arozarena needs to keep the 2023 season in mind

For the Tampa Bay Rays, Arozarena still represents a steal. The Rays will always have to contend with teams in the AL East like the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, teams with payrolls significantly larger than their own.

If GM Peter Bendix can continue nailing down high-value players like Arozarena at affordable prices, then they can continue to close the gap with their much wealthier divisional counterparts.
