The MLB Trade Deadline is rapidly approaching, which is good news for contenders and those in the basement. For those in the middle, it's time for them to make the tough decisions. Either way, it's a time of massive change in baseball, and several players could be switching teams sooner rather than later. Here's what you need to know about it.
MLB Trade Deadline details

When is MLB Trade Deadline?
The MLB Trade Deadline is on July 30 at 6 p.m. EDT. By that time, every team needs to have submitted their paperwork to the league office. These trades might get announced after the deadline, but as long as they're filed by that time, they are valid. In the past in some sports, teams have lost out on agreed-upon deals because they didn't get the paperwork ready in time.
Who will be the buyers?
The New York Yankees are arguably going to be one of the most active buyers this season. They've been exposed of late for having some weaknesses in the bullpen and infield, so they'll be active.
The Baltimore Orioles, Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies will also undoubtedly be buyers. The Cleveland Guardians might be active as well, even though they tend to avoid blockbuster trades.
Who will be the sellers?
So many teams are right in the thick of it, so it's not a good market for the deadline. Those teams won't buy or sell even though they might end up losing out on a playoff spot. The middle of the league is very congested.

However, there are a few teams that will undoubtedly sell. The Colorado Rockies, Miami Marlins, Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers, Toronto Blue Jays, Oakland Athletics, Los Angeles Angels, and Washington Nationals will most likely sell.
Which stars might get traded?
It's hard to envision any superstars being moved at the deadline, but several have been involved in trade rumors. These include:
- Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
- Mason Miller
- Luis Robert Jr.
- Garrett Crochet
- Jazz Chisholm Jr.
- Bo Bichette
There aren't a lot of big-name players available, but the deadline has a way of surprising every single year.
