The 2023 Caribbean Series is the 65th edition of the competition. The tournament brings together the champions of each professional baseball league in the countries that make up the Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation. For fans of football, it is similar to the UEFA Champions League, just in a single tournament.

Last year, Caimanes de Barranquilla, a team from the Colombian Professional Baseball League, were crowned champions. They defeated Gigantes del Cibao of the Dominican Republic 4-1 in the final.

Since beginning on Feb. 2, Mexico (Cañeros de Los Mochis) and Venezuela (Leones del Caracas) are tied for first place with a 3-1 record. Colombia (Vaqueros de Monteria) sits at 3-2, Curaçao (WildCats KJ74) at 2-2, Dominican Republic (Tigres del Licey) at 2-2, Panama (Federales de Chiriqui) at 2-2, Puerto Rico at 1-3 (Indios de Mayaguez), and Cuba (Agricultores) at 1-4.

The tournament will continue until Feb. 10 at La Rinconada Stadium in Caracas and Jorge Luis García Carneiro Stadium in La Guaira, Venezuela.

This is the debut of La Rinconada Stadium, which has a capacity of 38,000, making it the largest baseball stadium in South America. La Rinconada will host the final and third-place games of the Caribbean Series.

For fans hoping to watch the tournament, selected Caribbean Series games will be broadcast in the United States on ESPN Deportes. All of the games will be streamed via ESPN+.

Fans hoping to listen to the games on the radio will need to look into their available local stations to find out if they are broadcasting. The Caribbean Series final will be played at 6:30 pm ET on Feb. 10.

  • Live stream: ESPN+

Notable former and current MLB players participating in the Caribbean Series this year

Among the notable players participating this year are Robinson Cano, Wilson Ramos, Andrelton Simmons, Jonathan Schoop, Sergio Romo, and Willians Astudillo.

Cano is undoubtedly the biggest star in this year's tournament, and while he may no longer be the player he once was, his star power remains massive.
