The MLB Immaculate Grid is a 3 x 3 grid array. In order to succeed, users must take into account the various clues to populate the nine spaces with names of relevant MLB players. While team names are most often given as clues, sometimes team names are used instead.

On September 22, all eyes were on Ohio as one of the grid asked users to name players who have appeared for both the Cleveland Guardians (Indians) and the Cincinnati Reds. Let's take a look at some top names.

Trevor Bauer is one of the most maligned men in modern baseball. After his unorthodox approach to pitching led the Arizona Diamondbacks to trade him to the Cleveland Indians in 2013, his antics, including drawing "B/D 9/11" into the mound, gained him even more notoriety.

In 2020, his second season with the Reds, Bauer posted a league-best 1.73 ERA, winning the NL Cy Young Award. Although his stellar season earned him a three-year, $102 million deal with the Dodgers, his time in LA did not last long. Sexual abuse charges levied against Bauer in 2021 led to a 324-game suspension from MLB. Although his suspension was later commuted, Bauer opted to play in Japan in 2023, inking a one-year, $4 million deal with the Yokohama Bay Stars of NPB.

Current New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone is also a veteran of both teams. Boone, now 50, was drafted by the Reds in the 3rd round back in 1994. He played for the Reds from 1997 to 2003. In 2003, the year he was traded to the Yankees, Boone hit .267/.327/.453 with 24 home runs and 96 RBIs, earning his first and only All-Star appearances. He played for the Indians from 2005 to 2006, hitting .246 before retiring in 2009.

In 1956, outfielder Frank Robinson burst into MLB. At a time when black players were only starting to be seen with frequency in the league, Robinson hit .290/.379/.558 with 38 home runs, 83 RBIs, and a league-best 122 runs scored. After winning the 1956 Rookie of the Year, Robinson remained in Cincinnati. In 1961, he led all qualified batters in both .SLG and OPS, launching 37 home runs and 124 RBIs to win the NL MVP Award. In 1974, Robinson joined the Cleveland Indians, but appeared in just 100 games over three seasons before announcing his retirement.

Our last Immaculate Grid entry for today is Korean outfielder Shin-Soo Choo. Choo began his career in 2005 with the Seattle Mariners, but soon thereafter moved to Cleveland. The best season of Choo's career came with the 2010 Indians, wherein he hit .300/.401/.484 with 22 home runs, 90 RBIs, and 22 steals. His role season with the Cincinnati Reds came in 2013, when he finished in the top twelve in NL MVP voting.
