Each and every day, MLB Immaculate Grid drops a brand new puzzle for baseball fans everywhere. In a relatively short span of time, the quiz game has become near and dear to the hearts of many.
With it's brilliant design, the MLB Immaculate Grid showcases a 3 x 3 grid pattern. In order to succeed, users must consider the three clues on the x-axis and the three clues on the y-axis to populate the nine squares.
Among other things, the September 22 Immaculate Grid asked users to name members of the Detroit Tigers who have posted at least 200 strikeouts in a season. Let's examine some top names.

In 2009, Justin Verlander showed the world why he was selected first overall by the Tigers five years earlier. Already a Rookie of the Year winner, 2009 saw Verlander strike out 269 batters over 240 innings, both categories that he led the league in that season.
Two years later, Verlander put up one of the most dominant pitching performances in modern MLB history. The 28-year old led MLB in wins, ERA, starts, innings pitched and WHIP. As if that was not enough, Verlander's 250 strikeouts helped him capture both the AL Cy Young and MVP Awards. Now with the Houston Astros, the 40-year old shows no signs of slowing.

Lefite Mickey Lolich holds the single-season Tigers strikeout record. In 1971, Lolich pitched a league-high 376 innings, amassing a record of 25-14 and an ERA of 2.92. Additionally, his 308 strikeouts that year is more than any Tiger has posted before or after him. Lolich retired in 1979 after a pair of seasons pitching for the San Diego Padres.
6-foot-3 southpaw Matthew Boyd was the most recent member of the Tigers to surpass 200 strikeouts, fanning 238 in 2019. Ironically, his 238 strikeouts were one of the only highlights of Boyd's 2019 campaign. In addition to finishing with a 9-12 record and ERA of 4.56, Boyd's 39 home runs surrendered were the most given up by an AL pitcher that season.

Hal Newhouser spent 15 of his 17 MLB seasons throwing for the Detroit Tigers. In that time, "Prince Hal", a Detroit native, led MLB in ERA twice and wins on three occasions. The only pitcher to win back-to-back MVP Awards, Newhouser's second such honor in 1945 came on the heels of his league-best 212 K's.
