Aaron Judge's parents were there for the entire ride. While almost everybody who has any remote connections to sports knows Judge's name after his historic 2022 season, it has been his parents who have been supporting him the whole time.
Judge was born in April 1992 in the town of Linden, California, a town about 96 miles east of San Francisco. Just days after his birth, he was put up for adoption. He would soon be brought home by a pair of local schoolteachers.
Patty and Wayne Judge met each other at Fresno State University in the mid-1970s. The two were married soon thereafter and decided to settle in the town of Linden.
"Aaron Judge Thanks His Adoptive Parents After Hitting Home Run #62: “I’m Blessed”" - @ Steve Ertelt
Aaron Judge's parents adopted their first son, Jacob, in 1985. After adopting Aaron in 1992, they knew he had supreme athletic skills from a young age and thus enrolled him in every single sports-related activity that they could.
It wasn't until the New York Yankees superstar turned 10 that Aaron Judge's parents decided that it was the right time to tell him that he was adopted. They are devout Christians and have described their two sons as their "greatest blessings of all."
Judge grew up watching the San Francisco Giants in the era of Barry Bonds and excelled at both baseball and football at Linden High School. In 2010, he enrolled at Fresno State University, where he would meet his future wife, Samantha, just as Aaron Judge's parents had done nearly four decades prior.
In October 2022, Aaron Judge's parents were in attendance when their son crushed the 62nd home run of his career against the Texas Rangers. With the blast, Judge surpassed the previously-held single-season home run record of 61, which was set by Roger Maris in 1961. Roger Maris Jr. was also sitting with Paddy, Wayne, and Judge's wife Samantha Bracksieck when they witnessed the historic dinger.
"Roger Maris, Jr. Raving about Aaron Judge’s parents & how they raised him. Told the #Yankees he didn’t want to meet Judge until he tied his dad with 61. “It’s the 9th day I followed Aaron, he wears #99, Dad wore #9, I think He’ll hit 62 on Oct 1st when dad broke the record”" - @ Tina Cervasio
Aaron Judge's parents made it all possible for him
Judge is known for his off-field warmth and courteous persona. No doubt his grounded parents instilled all the right attributes. Once he is inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, he is sure to thank them again.
