Dylan Crews will make his Major League debut on Monday against the New York Yankees at Nationals Park. On Friday, the organization called up their star triple-A outfielder.
“Sources: Nationals top prospect Dylan Crews is expected to be called up to make his MLB debut in DC on Monday night against the Yankees. Crews and Wood, together at Nationals Park for the first time, opposing Juan Soto and the Yankees,” Grant Paulsen of MLB Network Radio reported.
The 22-year-old LSU alum has played 99 games in 2024 with the Triple-A Rochester Red Wings and Double-A Harrisburg Senators, scoring 68 RBIs, 60 runs and 13 home runs with a slash of .272/.343/.456 and an OPS of .799.
Crews will be the eighth Nationals call-up this season. He'll join James Wood, Nasim Nuñez and Andrés Chaparro as another of the team's minor league standouts recently promoted from the farm system.
The Nationals emerged victorious over the Colorado Rockies in their recent series. They have a 58-70 record and are in fourth place in the NL East. Subsequently, they plan to give Crews Major League experience in preparation for next season.
Dylan Crews will join the Nationals’ elite outfield
The Washington Nationals have a history of producing All-Star outfielders like Juan Soto and Bryce Harper. Dylan Crews is expected to follow in their footsteps while sharing the outfield with Alex Coll, James Wood and Jacob Young.
Another exciting matchup will occur when Crews visits Pittsburgh to battle the Pirates on September 5. This is because NL Rookie of the Year candidate Paul Skenes will face his former college teammates who now play with Washington.
The National signed Crews to a $9 million contract, the second-highest signing bonus in MLB history at that time.
