Fans reacted as Bob Costas, covering the ALDS Game 2, made a mistake while calling a double play involving Bobby Witt Jr. on Monday. During the fifth inning between the Kansas City Royals and the New York Yankees, the shortstop intercepted Austin Wells' ground hit to first step on the second base bag and retire Aaron Judge and made a throw to first base to catch the Yankees batter short.
Calling the play from booth, Costas mistakenly named Witt as "Whitfield," which attracted reactions from fans on social media.
"Bouncing ball over the mound, Whitfield steps on the bag, flips to first, Nifty, double play," Costas called the play on live broadcast.

"Who is Whitfield????," one fan commented.
"Bob costas should have been fired years ago," one fan wrote.
"Bob costas is so bad," another added.
Meanwhile, fans were also appreciative of Bobby Witt Jr.'s footwork, which ended in an important double play.
"That was some slick defense from Witt Jr.! Always great to see athleticism like that in the postseason!," one fan posted.
"Bobby Witt Jr. flashes the leather! Incredible footwork for the double play," another added.
"bobby witt jr. is like the king of double plays rn!" another wrote.

The 24-year-old had an incredible season, leading the majors with .332 hitting on top of 32 homers, 109 RBIs, 211 hits, 125 runs scored and 31 stolen bases in regular season.
Apart from Bobby Witt, other finalists in AL are as follows:
- Aaron Judge (New York Yankees)
- Juan Soto (New York Yankees)
- Yordan Alvarez (Houston Astros)
- Jarren Duran (Boston Red Sox)
- Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Toronto Blue Jays)
- Gunnar Henderson (Baltimore Orioles)
- Anthony Santander (Baltimore Orioles)

- Brent Rooker (Oakland Athletics)
Last year, Shohei Ohtani, the former Los Angeles Angels hitter, won the Hank Aaron Award in the American League and would also go on to win the AL MVP.
Apart from being in conversation for the Hank Aaron Award, Witt Jr. will likely sway some voters in his favor as he battles it out with Aaron Judge for the AL MVP this season.
