The MLB Trade Deadline wrapped up on Tuesday with teams scrambling to make some last-minute moves in hopes of improving during the second half. There was a flurry of trades made, as well as plenty before Tuesday's cutoff, making for an exciting week.
Some teams were smart with the moves they made, while others may have hurt their future with how they handled their trades. It was a wild few days, so we are here to break down which teams impressed and which ones fumbled the bag.
MLB Trade Deadline winners
Seattle Mariners
While it happened earlier during the MLB Trade Deadline, the Seattle Mariners acquired slugging outfielder Randy Arozarena. This was a bat the club definitely needed, but they did not stop there.
Seattle also acquired Justin Turner, Yimi Garcia, and JT Chargois. From the offense to the bullpen, Seattle certainly got better here while they continue to fight with the Houston Astros in the AL West.
Toronto Blue Jays
There were thoughts that the Toronto Blue Jays could tear it down during the trade deadline, but they were able to keep their stars. They made a few moves that should help the club in the future.
They were able to unload Yusei Kikuchi and got Jake Bloss and Joey Loperfield in return. They also acquired Charles McAdoo, who has been nothing but stellar at the plate.
Miami Marlins
The Miami Marlins were sellers at the deadline and were able to get some good returns for their players. Trading away pieces like Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Tanner Scott has given this club a much better outlook on the future.
MLB Trade Deadline losers
Boston Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox have surprised many this season, being in contention in the American League East. However, they had a few holes to fill ahead of the MLB Trade deadline.
While they made multiple moves, none seemed to be one to push Boston over the hump. They added Quinn Priester, Luis Garcia, Lucas Sims, Danny Jansen, and James Paxton. They have gotten better, but both the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees made better moves.
Minnesota Twins
The Minnesota Twins are right in the thick of things in the American League Central. They are six games behind the Cleveland Guardians and missed their chance to improve.
The biggest deal the club made was adding Trevor Richards to the bullpen, who has struggled lately. Cleveland got better with the additions of Lane Thomas and Alex Cobb, so this seems like a huge missed opportunity.
