Aaron Boone was ejected during the New York Yankees' game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday. The Yanks manager had an on-field argument with umpire Tripp Gibson regarding strike calls during the game.

Boone's sixth ejection of the season and 39th overall in his managerial career came in the bottom of the seventh when Gibson called strike on New York batter Austin Wells on a 1-2 count for a pitch that seemed to dip beneath the strike zone.

Boone went out of the dugout and protested against the call, and after a few minutes of back and forth, he was tossed by the home plate umpire. In the very next at-bat, hitting coach James Rowson was also dismissed from the game after a low pitch to Giancarlo Stanton that allegedly missed the strike zone was also protested.

"I was going a little bit early at Tripp," Yankees manager Boone said after the game. "Really didn't say much other than, 'That's down.' But he told me four innings ago, 'That's enough.'"

As per Umpire Scorecards, which tracks umpires' performance during a game, Gibson had a 94% accuracy during the game with a lower consistency rate of 91.6%. He has a 60 percentile rank in all of MLB when it comes to accuracy and a worse 31 percentile in consistency among all crew chiefs.

Yankees earn decisive series win against Blue Jays

The Yankees came from behind to win two on the trot against their divisional rivals. After a solid 8-5 win for Toronto in the series opener, the Yanks rebounded with a strong offensive display in the 8-3 win on Saturday.

The series finale went right down to the wire. DJ Le Mahieu's walk-off single in the 10th earned the win for the team that was desperate to continue its newfound momentum. They are currently tied with the Baltimore Orioles for the top spot in the AL East. The Bombers will host the Angels next with Luis Gil starting on the mound in the Bronx on Tuesday.
