Why was Tim Anderson ejected? White Sox shortstop involved in another pitch clock fiasco

Chicago White Sox v Houston Astros
Tim Anderson was ejected after a pitch clock fiasco.

Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson was ejected against the San Francisco Giants at Guaranteed Rate Field on Wednesday.

Anderson got involved in an argument with Giants starter Logan Webb after the latter apparently took too long to throw a pitch. Anderson wanted to call time but was not granted the same by the home plate umpire.

As Anderson walked out of the batter’s box, Webb threw a changeup down the middle of the plate, resulting in a strikeout. Anderson was upset with the call and gestured at Reyburn, suggesting that he should have been watching him step out of the box.

The incident caused a delay in the game as Anderson continued to argue with Reyburn. As Luis Robert Jr. walked up to the plate for the next at-bat, Anderson was still chirping at the umpire.

As Reyburn threw out Anderson, cameras appeared to catch the latter pointing at Webb, possibly indicating his frustration with Webb's quick windup. Reyburn ejected Anderson, and the shortstop continued to shout at Webb from the dugout.

The pitch clock has caused some controversy as players get used to it in its first season. Pitchers have 15 seconds to deliver a pitch, 20 seconds with runners on base, and hitters must also be alert to the pitcher with eight seconds left on the clock. While the pace of play has quickened, some hitters and pitchers are having trouble adjusting to the new rule.

Did Tim Anderson's exit affect Chicago White Sox?

Tim Anderson's early exit did not affect the outcome of the game, though, as the White Sox beat the Giants 7-3.

The team hit 7-for-12 with runners in scoring position, with Gavin Sheets leading the charge with three RBIs. Andrew Vaughn, Yoan Moncada and Tim Anderson's replacement Hanser Alberto adding an RBI apiece.

Meanwhile, Tim Anderson's passion and fight for the game are what make him good, according to White Sox manager Pedro Grifol, who had no issue with Anderson's ejection.
