While Trea Turner may be a newer addition to the Phillies than the rest of their big sluggers, the shortstop's two seasons with the team have solidified him as a clubhouse favorite. Now, Turner and his wife are expecting to become parents again.
On Monday, Turner's wife, Kristen, took to Instagram to announce that she and her husband were expecting their third child. Captioned by "Round 3…..baby GIRL coming soon", the Turners left no room for ambiguity surrounding the expected gender of the soon-to-be third Turner child.
The news sparked an outpour of positive reactions from other wives and partners of Phillies players. Among those who commented were Kayla Harper, Jess Castellanos and Kyle Schwarber's wife Paige. Moreover, Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith's wife Cara also chimed in, wishing Kristen and Trea Turner the very best.
Trea and Kristen Turner are parents to two boys, Dash and Trea, born in 2021 and 2023 respectively. The pair previously dated for six years before getting married in DC in 2018, when Turner was playing for the Washington Nationals.
A three-time All-Star and winner of the 2021 NL batting title, Turner came to the Phillies ahead of the 2023 season under an 11-year, $300 million deal. While other big names on the club like Nick Castellanos, Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber have been around longer, fans seem to have just as much affinity for their shortstop.
"Trea Turner walks it off. He is 7 for 10 since his night off with 3 RBIs in 2 games" - John Clark
During the 2024 campaign with the Philadelphia Phillies, Turner appeared in 121 games, hitting .295/.338/.469 with 21 home runs and 62 RBIs. On account of the performance, the Florida-native earned the third All-Star nod of his career.
Netflix acquires rights to Trea Turner documentary
In August 2023, Turner was struggled at the plate. However, instead of condemning the shortstop, Phillies fan and content creator Jon McCann took to social media to offer a different approach to motivation:
"And he needs some love. Not tough love, not right now. He needs love-love. So let's love Trea Turner this weekend and give him a standing ovation every time my man comes to bat."
After that point, Turner hit .337 to finish off the season. Now, Netflix has acquired the rights to "The Turnaround", a documentary-style feature on that sequence. The Turner family can expect to have one more member in among them when the film comes out.
