The World Baseball Classic kicked off the second day of pool play for groups C and D on Sunday. Baseball fans were treated to an electric game between Team Venezuela and Team Puerto Rico.

Pablo Lopez kept Puerto Rico's batters quiet early on, pitching 4.2 innings and allowing only one run. Later in the game, Puerto Rico attempted to rally, but their efforts were in vain.

Anthony Santander started the party for Venezuela by launching a three-run home run in the first innings. Salvador Perez had about as good of a game as anyone could have, as he went 4-4 with a home run and five RBIs.

Team Puerto Rico went through seven pitchers in Sunday's game. None were enough to keep Team Venezuela off the basepaths.

"Venezuela looks elite so far! Wow!" one fan tweeted.
"What a win!! Salvy and Pablo Lopez kicked some butt!" responded another fan.

Team Venezuela fans are fired up with how their team looks in the World Baseball Classic so far. With this win, they move to 2-0 and sit at the top of Pool D.

Team Venezuela have an off day on Monday and will wrap up their Pool D play against Team Nicaragua on Tuesday and Team Israel on Wednesday.

Is Team Venezuela the team to look out for in the World Baseball Classic?

Team Venezuela has looked dominant in this World Baseball Classic. They defeated the tournament favorites, Team Dominican Republic, by a score of 5-1 on Saturday. They proved on Sunday that they should be one of the teams to be feared.

They have one of the best leadoff hitters in the entire tournament. Jose Altuve has never flinched under the brightest of lights. He's the perfect guy to put at the top of this lineup to shape the momentum.

Following Atluve is infielder Luis Arraez, who won the American League batting title last season. There's no break in this Venezuelan lineup. Salvador Perez, who hit fourth, has been hitting since November to prepare for this tournament. With this type of commitment, it will be hard for teams to get it going against this squad.
