LA Angels and MLB analyst Sam Blum recently posted about how he believes top prospect Christian Moore has a bright future in the major leagues. Recent quality performances have resulted in Moore being quickly promoted to Double-A.
Moore was picked eighth overall by the Angels in the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft, coming off an exceptional junior season for the University of Tennessee. He batted with a .375 average with 74 RBIs, hitting a school single-season record of 34 home runs.
Speaking about the prodigy on X, Blum posted:
After his draft selection, Moore agreed to a signing bonus worth $4,997,500, which is considered a good deal for the Angels as he had a recommended value of $6,502,800.
Christian Moore hits first pro home run; history with Angels boss Ron Washington
The Inland Empire 66ers, the single-A affiliate of the Angels, defeated the Modesto Nuts 11-1 on Thursday, and Moore played a big part in his side's victory. The 21-year-old had four hits in 6 at-bats, with 3 RBIs and 2 runs. He also scored his first professional home run in the fourth inning.
Moore shares a good relationship with Angels manager Ron Washington, having worked together as part of the MLB Develops program when Moore was still a teenager. Christian credits his interactions with Washington, who was his infield coach then, as having a big impact and helping him reach this point in his career.
Just like 2022 and 2023 draft picks Zach Neto and Noah Schanuel, we could see another Angels draft selection lighting up Angel Stadium sooner rather than later.
