The Philadelphia Phillies recently announced that they are accepting offers for infielder Alec Bohm. This decision followed reports suggesting that the third baseman was dropped from the playoff lineup due to maturity issues, which were not well-received by the club. Despite these concerns, Bohm had a strong season, hitting 97 RBIs, including 15 home runs with a .280 average.

On the Pinstripes Territory podcast, host Derek Levandowski was asked about the Yankees' chances of acquiring Bohm. Levandowski noted that while Bohm would fit well into the Yankees' setup, his maturity concerns could be a factor. However, he believes the management might overlook these issues if Bohm delivers strong performances on the field.

"I like Alec Bohm the player... I like his spray chart; I like all the red on that screen. I mean, he's good at avoiding strikeouts, he's good at squaring the ball up, he's got above-average exit velocity. The expected batting average is in the 95th percentile. He hit .280, he's got 15 bombs... But he's apparently had maturity issues and he had to essentially be benched in the playoffs, so I can't speak to that."
"I wasn't in the room, I don't know what those issues are. Everybody’s issues are different. Apparently, he’s one of these guys who goes crazy if he makes an out. I actually don't mind that, as long as you're mad at yourself, but emotional maturity, as we've seen, is a big deal for some guys. There are some guys who just didn’t have it," Levandowski said (31:21).

Phillies avoid arbitration with Alec Bohm with $7.7 million deal

The Phillies re-signed all six players who were eligible for arbitration in 2025, without needing a hearing. This included Alec Bohm, who agreed to a $7.7 million deal with the club, their second-highest arbitration fee after pitcher Ranger Suarez secured $8.8 million for the season.

However, avoiding arbitration doesn't mean Bohm won't be traded. Instead, it sets a price tag for other teams interested in the infielder. If the Yankees were to sign Bohm, it would stabilize their infield. With Bohm moving to third base, Jazz Chisholm Jr. could play in the middle of the diamond alongside Anthony Volpe at shortstop and newly acquired Paul Goldschmidt at first base.
