After a tough offseason, Gleyber Torres is doing a fantastic job of silencing the doubters. Torres has hit the ground running and has been one of the New York Yankees' standout players this year.

Over the last few months, there was talk that the Yankees were looking to trade the 26-year-old. The rapid rise of Anthony Volpe and Oswald Peraza meant the club had a surplass of infielders on the roster. Torres, however, continues to prove that he is one of the league's elite hitters.

Gleyber Torres stands ahead of all his peers in one major category -- on-base percentage. This vital statistic is one of the most important ways to measure a hitter's talent. Torres currently ranks first in OBP (.576) in the majors ahead of Boston Red Sox center fielder Adam Duvall and Chicago Cubs' outfielder Ian Happ.

Yankees fans took to Twitter to call out a section of the fanbase that doubted Torres earlier in the season.

Many Yankees fans were calling for Torres to be traded despite a decent 2022 season. Although he finished with a subpar .310 OBP last season (the lowest of his career), he did contribute with 24 home runs and 76 RBIs.

Over a period of just eight games, Gleyber Torres has been able to change the opinions of a large portion of the fanbase. Many New York Yankees fans have had to eat their words after a spectacular start to the season.

The Venezuelan righty has an impressive .417/.576/.708 slash line and a 1.284 OPS. He has recorded two home runs, six RBIs, ten hits and six runs over 24 at-bats.

Similar to Aaron Judge last year, Torres leads the Yankee roster in almost every major offensive category this season. He ranks first in the team in batting average, OBP, slugging and OPS. He also leads the team in hits, RBIs, walks and runs. He ranks second in home runs behind only Giancarlo Stanton.

Torres haters have gone quiet online. In the span of just a few weeks, the doubters seem to have disappeared. There is still a lot of baseball to be played but Torres is in the best form of his life at the moment.
