The New York Yankees experienced plenty of injuries during the first half of the season. They saw some key pieces move to the IL while the team struggled to keep their foot on the gas pedal.

However, they have some players who are working to get healthy and rejoin the lineup. One key piece who is nearing his return and will be a huge help to the club is Ian Hamilton.

Hamilton suffered a right lat strain on June 16 and has been on the IL since. He is expected to throw a "high-intensity" bullpen on August 6. However, he will need to go through a rehab assignment as well.

Anthony Rizzo is another player that has been on the IL for a while. He has been on the IL since June 16 as well after suffering a right forearm fracture. He has started swinging a bat but still has some things to work through before he can return.

Former Miami Marlins infielder Jon Berti received a second platelet-rich plasma injection to help with his left calf strain on July 20. He is nearly back to running at full speed and is trending in a "good direction" per manager Aaron Boone.

Clarke Schmidt's latest start with the Yankees came all the way back on May 26 against the San Diego Padres. He threw a small bullpen on July 20 and is scheduled to throw a live batting practice session on August 6.

Schmidt has been suffering from a right lat strain, and it has been hard for him to return. However, he will continue to work and expects himself to be fully built back up by the end of the season.
